What to Expect

Living Water Church is a non-denominational Spirit-filled fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ that seeks to spread the Gospel through discipleship of God's people and local/international missionary support.

"He who believes in me as the scripture has said, out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water." -John 7:38

Living Water Church And Ministry Training Center, Inc. began in September of 2005 as God provided the current property on Hall Valley Drive in Bridgeport, WV as our place of worship.

God is continuing to mold and grow our church, and we look forward to all He has in store for us.

Our Beliefs

God

We believe in the only true creator, God – The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, these three are one. This God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them, visible and invisible. God is the sustainer of the universe and governs over all.

The Bible

We believe the Bible, Old and New Testament, is the inspired word of God, and teaches the true and only way to eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ alone as Savior. The scriptures are a true record of God’s revelation to man, and are foundational to the Christian believer, in all aspects of our spiritual and physical life (2 Peter 1:3).

Membership

There is no membership, however, persons who are believers, having received the Lord Jesus Christ, and who give evidence by their confession and their conduct that they are living in real fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ, and who subscribe to the above Purpose and Statement of Faith, will be considered part of the family of God and the church family in accordance with this Constitution.

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ. He is both God and man. Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born to the Virgin Mary. He is the prophesied Savior of the whole human race, to all who accept with full faith the grace He offers. Jesus suffered and died on the cross for our sins,  was buried and rose the third day, ascended to the heavens, where He is our intercessor with God the Father. He will return again in power and glory as King of Kings and Lord of Lords, judging the living and dead.

Salvation

We believe that human beings are brought into salvation by accepting the free gift of God, which was His Son Jesus Christ. It is by God’s grace and our faith in Jesus Christ that makes this possible (Eph 2:8-9). We believe salvation is based upon being in Christ and remaining in Christ (John 15:5-7); (2 Cor. 5:17), that the first Adam fell into sin and by the saving grace of Jesus Christ; we are redeemed by His atonement.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son, and is the Comforter Jesus promised the faithful. He convicts us of sin, teaches gifts of the spirit (1 Cor. 12:1-13), within scriptural order and discernment. He lives within us as believers, goes everywhere with us, hears all we hear, sees all we see, and guides us into all truth.

Baptism - Church Observances

We believe in the ordinance of baptism by immersion (Matthew 3:16, Jesus’ example); in the Lord’s supper as outlined in Matthew 26:26-28, the bread and cup of the New Covenant, it’s observance till His return (1 Cor. 11:23-26),

We believe that the Lord’s Supper and water baptism are ordinances to be observed by the Church during this present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as means of salvation. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, of the unbeliever to judgement and everlasting conscious punishment.

Moral Issues

Abortion

We believe that human life begins at fertilization and that the unborn child is a living human being. Abortion constitutes the unjustified, unexcused taking of unborn God-given human life. God is the author of life and death. Therefore, abortion is murder (Job 3:16; Psalm 51:5; 139:14-16; Isaiah 49:1,5; Jeremiah 1:5, 20:15-18; Luke 1:44).

Human Sexuality

We believe that sexual activity outside of marriage between one man and one woman is sin. Furthermore, sexual activities such as, but not limited to, any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, transgender, bestiality, incest, pedophilia, fornication, adultery, viewing and/or distribution of any form of pornography, pre-marital sex, polygamy, lascivious behavior, cross-dressing and efforts to alter one's physical gender or gender-related appearance, are sinful perversions of God's gift of sex and are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church as outlined in scripture. We believe that these areas are incompatible with a true Biblical witness (Gen. 2:24, Gen. 19:5, 13, Gen. 26:8-9; Lev. 18:1-30; Romans 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 5:1,11, 6:9, 6:18-20, 7:1-3, 7:8-9; 1 Thes.4:1-8; Heb. 13:4).

Christian Interactions
Christian Love

We believe that we should demonstrate love for others, not only toward fellow believers, but also toward unbelievers and those who engage in sinful actions. We are to deal with those who oppose us graciously, gently, patiently, prayerfully, and humbly. God forbids the stirring up of strife, the taking of revenge, or the threat of, or use of, violence as a means of resolving personal conflict or obtaining personal justice (Lev. 19:18; Matt 5:44-48; Luke 6:31; John 13:34-35; Romans 12:9-10, 17-21, 13:8-10; Phil. 2:2-4; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Titus 3:2; 1 John 3:17-18).

Euthanasia

We believe that God is the author of life and death. The direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of intention. Life is a gift of God and must be respected from fertilization to natural death (Exodus 20:13; 23:7; Matthew 5:21; Acts 17:28).

Marriage

We believe that marriage has been ordained by God. The scripture and this church define “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment before God and man. A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by this church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in this Statement of Faith. We believe that marriage is exclusively the legal union of one genetic male and one genetic female, and that this union is evidenced by a marriage ceremony. We also believe that legitimate biblical sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. We believe in the creation and God as the Creator. We believe that God created man, and that He created them male and female. As such, He created them different so as to complement and complete each other. We believe the husband is to love and be the head of the wife (spiritual leadership in the home, loving as Christ loved the church and died for her). We believe that the wife is to submit herself to her husband and respect him. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. For this reason, homosexuality and all other “sexual preferences” or “orientations” are unnatural, sinful and unacceptable to God. Accordingly, this ministry, (Living Water Church and Ministry Training Center, Inc., and its licensed ministers and staff, paid or volunteer), will NOT perform any marriage ceremonies between two individuals of the same sex. It will not condone or recognize such same-sex marriages, civil unions of domestic partnerships even if the state or federal government passes laws that provide for recognition of such unions. Lastly, the facilities of property of the church shall only host weddings between one man and one woman (Gen. 2:24; Rom. 7:2; 1 Cor. 6:9-11, 7:10; 1 Tim. 1:9-11; Eph. 5:22-23).

Lawsuits between Believers

We believe that scripture prohibits members of from bringing civil lawsuits against other members of our assembly or the church to resolve personal disputes. (1 Cor. 6:1-8; Eph. 4:31-32)

Civil Government

We believe that civil government is ordained by God for the interests and good order of human society. Believers are to pray for and conscientiously honor and obey their civil authorities except when ordered to disobey Scripture and the will of God. (Ex.18:21, 22:2; 2 Sam. 23:3; Acts 23:5; Romans 13:17).

Authority of the Statement of Faith of Living Water Church and Ministry Training Center, Inc.

This statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs on the many subjects vital to the Christian man or woman. The Bible itself is the SOLE and FINAL source of all that we believe. We do believe, however, that the foregoing statement of faith accurately represents the teaching of the Bible and, therefore, is binding upon all members of this congregation. For purposes of church doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the elders at Living Water Church and Ministry Training Center, Inc., are the church’s interpretive authority on the Bible's meaning and application. All teaching conducted as part of our ministry, and all curriculum's used in our education ministries must be approved by appropriate church leadership.

As A Ministry Training Center

1. We will teach God's Word to those who are called to service in the five-fold ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12), Missions and church leadership.

2. We will use only Biblical-based training materials that exalt Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Philippians 2:10-12).
